This is my personality now...

Of all the matcha lattes I’ve ever had, this one is by far the absolute best. It’s a bold claim, sure, but one that I must make.

For the past few weeks, nothing has had a grip on me more than the Roast Iced Matcha from Roast Coffee Roasters right here in Bahrain. You guys, we have a world class player in our midst! (Just ask Lindsay Lohan) Not only do they roast their own coffee beans, which they ethically source straight from the farmers all over the world; but they also make amazing matcha drinks. Each one more wonderful than the last.

There’s a Matcha Affogato (heavenly and sinful at the same time), an authentic Matcha whisked just for the purists, and then there’s their pièce de résistance, the Roast Matcha.

On the first day that I tried it, I had no idea what I was in for. I went to the Bahrain Islamic Bank in East Riffa to finish a task that I begrudgingly had to do. The only saving grace of that 2 and a half hour wait time (yes, I’m not kidding) to even see a bank teller was that Roast had a branch inside the bank. Naturally my curiosity lead me to try the matcha as I can’t drink caffinated coffee these days (doctors orders) so I thought why not try this, (although I’m fully aware matcha has caffeine, it doesn’t make me jittery like coffee.)

So on a random and busy Sunday morning, I ordered from the lovely Aagya who made me my very first Roast Matcha. I went up to her and asked for and iced Matcha latte with Oat milk and she suggested the Roast Matcha. I asked, “Whats the difference?” But the answer came in that very first sip. Never have I ever had a drink so smooth, so balanced, so…MAGICAL! Yes, magical. Because in the hum drum of our mundane lives, with our never ending lists of things to do, some thing comes along and stops you, no, almost awakens you from the repetitive quotidian blah that you’re in, and slowly whispers, “life is beautiful, find the joy in the everyday.” This Roast Matcha is my joy every day.

My brother, our resident household psychologist, noticed early on my addictive personality. He warned me to stay away from bad habits because I get hooked easily. Well, I’m happy to report that I’ve turned a page, and I’m hooked to this mineral rich, L-theanine laden calming potion, and total magic elixir that gets me to focus and finish my day to day tasks. Happily might I add.

The drink itself is THE perfect ratio of Matcha, (sourced directly from a farm in Japan), Oat milk (which I learned recently that matcha should not be mixed with dairy, so you can extract the full benefits of it) and Agave syrup (a natural sweetener that is guilt free). These 3 ingredients combined make me the happiest, most fulfilled version of myself. And an addict of something that I’m finally proud of. (Good bye Jasmis and Gummy Bears)

And its safe to say that my personality, and blood by now, is this Matcha that’s coursing through my veins.

So if you’re on the Island of Bahrain, and you like matcha, and you still haven’t tried this…I hope this little monologue got you one step closer to a Roast near you (Busaiteen, Riffa and the original Janabiya branch) to try it. #notsponsored just a lovestruck Matcha enthusiast.

Curiously Yours,

Hessa
